Your Moving Day Guide
A few tips to help your move go as smoothly as possible.
The Week Before Your Move
Use Proper Boxes
Use strong, double-walled moving boxes. Weak or old boxes can collapse, creating a safety risk for our team and your belongings. You can buy these from storage facilities or DIY stores.
Don't Overfill!
A box should be easily liftable by one person (max 20kg). Use smaller boxes for heavy items like books, and larger boxes for light items like bedding.
Label Everything
This is the #1 time-saver! Clearly label the top and sides of every box with its contents and the destination room (e.g., 'Kitchen - Mugs', 'Master Bedroom - Clothes').
Protect Fragile Items
Use plenty of packing paper, bubble wrap, or towels for all fragile items. Mark these boxes 'FRAGILE' in large letters on all sides.
Prepare Appliances
Please defrost your fridge and freezer at least 24 hours before we arrive. Disconnect and fully drain your washing machine.
The Day Before Your Move
THE GOLDEN RULE: Reserve Parking!
This is the most critical step for a smooth day. Please ensure there is clear parking for our large Luton van (approx. 2-3 car lengths) at BOTH your old and new properties. If you live in a permit area, please arrange a visitor permit for us in advance.
Pack an 'Essentials Box'
Pack a separate, clearly marked box with everything you'll need immediately upon arrival: Kettle, tea/coffee, mugs, phone chargers, toilet paper, toiletries, and any essential medications. Keep this box with you.
Clear the Way
Ensure hallways, doorways, and paths are clear of obstacles. This provides our team with safe and efficient access.
On Moving Day
Final Sweep
Before our team leaves your old property, please do one final check of all cupboards, sheds, and attics to ensure nothing is left behind.
Be Available at the New Property
It's essential that you are present at the new property to guide our team on where to place large furniture items and boxes.
